AUBURN — Stephen D. Herrin, 59, of West Dartmouth Street, Auburn died Sept. 30, in the comfort of his home with family and friends at his side after a short illness.

He was born in Hartland, March 7, 1951, the son of the late Kenneth and Joanne (Knowles) Herrin. He attended the Naval Academy in Carlsbad, Calif., and was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran serving in the Vietnam Conflict.

He was the owner of Better Homes and Garages by SD Herrin Inc. Est. 1979. His hobbies included antique cars and trucks including his 1939 Ford Pickup he built from the ground up, his children plan to finish the truck in memory of him.

He is survived by his companion of 15 years, Lucielle Dick; his daughter, Jennifer K. Herrin Vazquez; his son, Noah S. Herrin; his brother, Patrick Herrin; his sister, Linda and her husband, Russ Cannon and their children, Amy and Aaron Cannon; two grandchildren, Sierra Hinson and Kaeya Vazquez; and a son-in-law, Russell Vazquez.

Steve’s personal thanks is extended to all the people who helped with any and everything before his death, and to all customers throughout the years of operating his business, helped in his life and to his business success.
