BANGOR (AP) — A woman has died from injuries she suffered after she drove her ATV off an embankment and fell 25 feet into a small stream.
The Maine Warden Service says Jane Grant, a Blanchard Township woman in her mid-50s, died Saturday at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. She had been hospitalized with a serious head injury since the Sept. 25 crash in Piscataquis County.
Agency spokeswoman Deborah Turcotte says the ATV fell on top of Grant and pinned her to the ground after she ran off an ATV trail. Turcotte says Grant wasn’t wearing a helmet.
A friend who was riding with Grant rode to get help, but was later unable to find the crash site.
A search party located Grant shortly after 12:30 a.m. the next day.
