Swingin’ Bears
SOUTH PARIS — The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club of South Paris will have Lee Kennedy for a caller at a square dance on Saturday, Oct. 9, with Bernie Porter cueing for the round dancing. Dancing will be from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street.
Hosts for the evening will be Bob and Cathy Thorpe and Esther and Erland Tucker. There will be door prizes and a pot of gold drawing. Nondancers are welcome to come and watch at no charge. For more information, call Sue Corning at 577-6894 or Eleanor Herrick at 782-4050.
Book sale
NEW SHARON — A book sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Jim Ditzler Memorial Library. Paperback books will be 25 cents each or $3 a bag. Hardcover books will be 50 cents each or $6 a bag. There will also be some free items.

Homemakers
INDUSTRY — The Clearwater Extension Homemakers will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at Shorey Chapel. The planned program is on Christmas ornaments. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Public supper
MEXICO — A public supper will be served at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Mexico Congregational United Church of Christ (the Green Church). The menu will include baked beans and casseroles, as well as homemade pies. Cost for adults is $7 and children under 12, $3.
Church sale
BETHEL — The West Parish Congregational Church, UCC, on Church Street, will hold its annual sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9. There will be bargains in the church basement including toys, books and household items.
Proceeds will benefit the Smile Fund which aids those who are in need of restorative dental work and lack the financial resources to undertake the treatment. For information about the Smile Fund, call the Rev. Virginia Rickeman at 824-0550.

MEXICO — The Mexico High School Class of 1959 is invited to meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at the Chicken Coop.
Autumn dinner
OTISFIELD — The ladies of the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church will prepare an autumn dinner to be served from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, in the Fellowship Room of the church on the Rayville Road, off Route 121.
The menu will include roasted pork loin, mashed potatoes, carrots, beets, squash salads, homemade rolls and a variety of desserts. Coffee and cider will be available. All are welcome. There is no charge, but donations will be appreciated.
Park open
WELD — The Mt. Blue State Park campground will be open until the end of Columbus Day weekend. The campground gate will close for the season at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11.
Park trails will remain open throughout the fall and walk-ins are welcome year-round.
