UPPER CUPSUPTIC TOWNSHIP (AP) — A Maine woman and her 14-year-old son have been found alive and well a day after their SUV got stuck in the woods during a bird-hunting outing.

The Maine Warden Service said Paulette Cote and her son spent Saturday night in their SUV before a search party found them about 10 a.m. Sunday morning in remote Upper Cupsuptic Township in northern Oxford County.

The pair left their Farmington home early Saturday morning and were reported missing by Cote’s daughter at about 11 p.m. when they failed to return.

The Maine Warden Service, the U.S. Border Patrol and others searched the area through the night before finding the SUV Sunday morning after Maine Warden Service Pilot Dan Dufault spotted the plane from the air.

Warden Service Sgt. John Blagdon said the pair was following roads into the woods and got stuck while crossing the headwaters of Moose Brook early Saturday afternoon.
