AUGUSTA — The state Labor Department says Mainers filing their unemployment claims may have gotten some erroneous notices about their eligibility due to a computer glitch.
The error affected people who filed a weekly claim for benefits on Sunday or early Monday. A technical glitch in the computer system that processes automated phone and internet weekly claims caused laid-off workers to receive notices that there were no available weeks to claim.
Officials say the problem was discovered and resolved by midmorning Monday. But the department is encouraging anyone who had trouble filing a weekly claim during that time to try again.
Laid-off workers can file weekly unemployment claims by phone or online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
