Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Oct. 4 were as follows: first, Helen Little and Les Buzzell; second, Dick Allen and Richard Balian; third, Jan Arey and Linda Leotsakos; fourth, Alberta Turner and Rosemarie Goodwin; first in B, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird.

Games are played every week at 9 a.m. and a partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate games in the area. There will be no game on Monday, Oct. 11, Columbus Day.

Legion meeting

AUBURN — Members of American Legion Post 31 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at the Post, 426 Washington St. Veterans Day plans will be made. The Legion Auxiliary Unit 31 will also meet at 7 p.m.

POLAND — Members of the Poland Extension will meet on Monday, Oct. 11, at the Poland Community Parish Hall for a potluck luncheon. Speakers at the meeting will be the Poland Rescue and Fire chiefs. Anyone interested can attend.

Room dedication

LITCHFIELD — The Litchfield Senior Center will dedicate the activity room to the memory of Carol W. Bailey at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8. Bailey was the director of the center and passed away suddenly on March 8.

Organizers of the event said she was a caring, warm person, who worked hard at making the center what it has become today. They said everyone who came through the door of the center was made welcome.

Girl scouts

MINOT — Girl Scouts of Maine will host a parent information and registration meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Minot Consolidated School and Thursday, Oct. 14, at the Elm Street School in Mechanic Falls.

Country Sunday

LITCHFIELD — DECMA Country Sunday will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 10, at the Litchfield Sportsmen’s Club, Hallowell-Litchfield Road. The afternoon will feature country music from musicians including Barry Wood, Brenda Millett, Al Bergeron, Gary Leet, Potpourri, Maurice Belanger, Paul Bright and George DeWitt.

Admission is $6 for adults and $5 for DECMA members. Kids under 12 are free. There will be raffles, a 50-50 drawing and door prizes. The kitchen will be open for burgers, hot dogs and other refreshments. Proceeds will benefit the Country Fest Maine 2011 fund.
