LEWISTON, Maine (AP) — The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded a contract for construction of a new VA community-based outpatient clinic in Lewiston.

Congressman Mike Michaud said CD Smith Construction Services will begin construction next spring on the clinic, near the Lewiston exit of the Maine Turnpike.

The clinic is designed to serve veterans closer to home.

CD Smith Construction, which is based in Wisconsin, is working on another VA outpatient clinic in Bangor.
