Library closing
PARIS — Hamlin Memorial Library has announced its winter checkout period. Any books checked out of the library from Oct. 16 to 30 do not have to be returned to the library until April 2, 2011.
The library is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays, through Oct. 30, when it will close for the winter. Any materials that are currently checked out are due back before Oct. 30. For more information, call 743-2980 or e-mail [email protected].
Board meeting

Church service
NORWAY — The First Universalist churches of Norway and West Paris welcome all to services on Sunday, Oct. 10. The service, titled “Exploring An Autobiography,” will focus on the Rev. Richard Beal’s sharing some of his personal, intellectual and spiritual biography.

Girl Scouts
BROWNFIELD — Girl Scouts of Maine will host a parent information and registration meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Brownfield Community Church.
Girls and adults from the Denmark and Brownfield area are invited to attend the meeting to find out more about becoming a Girl Scout and volunteering. Supper, dance
LOCKE MILLS — A supper and dance will be held from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the American Legion Hall. Music will be by the Richard Felt Band and the harvest supper by the American Legion Auxiliary.

Operations Santa
BUCKFIELD — Applications are now available for Operation Santa Claus, serving the towns of Buckfield, Hartford and Sumner.
