JAY — Family and friends are organizing a benefit spaghetti dinner to help Ray Fleury rebuild his barn, lost to fire on Sept. 2.

The early 1800s barn was totally destroyed, severely limiting Fleury’s ability to continue the family farming business he ran from his home of 10 years. The farm produced eggs, milk, butter, beef and vegetables for local and CSA sales.

Fleury found the perfect “job” for himself by combining a part-time position at the Washburn Norlands Living History Center as the historic farmer with his family business in Jay. Farming is his passion whether using historic or contemporary techniques.

The dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the AmVets Post 33, 111 Main St. A meal and raffle items of all varieties will be available as a means to support Fleury in his recovery and rebuilding efforts.

Tickets are available by advance sales. Contact the Post at 897-4112, Marie at 320-2116, Lori Anne at 712-8117 or Nancey at 740-0777.
