MEXICO — Police are nearing the end of a monthlong investigation into a theft and burglary spree at about a dozen homes. Arrests of several local juvenile boys are expected Friday morning.

Sgt. Roy Hodsdon said Thursday afternoon that he and officers Dan Carrier and Mike Grenier have been involved in the investigation that has resulted in the retrieval of a number of items taken from garages, vehicles and sheds in the Fourth and Fifth streets, and Backkingdom Road areas.

Beginning in late August, filled gasoline cans, bicycle parts, a push lawnmower, cell phones, a global positioning system and siphon hoses have been stolen. In one case, a pickup truck was stolen, then returned with about $3,000 damage.

Some properties were damaged during the break-ins.

Three empty gas cans and one siphon hose were recovered from Fifth Street, along with several other items Hodsdon did not want identified because of the continuing investigation.

“It’s been a departmentwide investigation,” he said.
