Society performance
MECHANIC FALLS — The Malcolm Clan and Bruce Hobart will return for an encore bluegrass performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, at the Mechanic Falls Historical Society, 64 Elm St.
The ensemble of musicians will feature an array of instruments, including fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, piano and organ, performing classical to bluegrass and everything in between. The concert will benefit the historical society. There is no admission charge but donations will be accepted.
Puppet show
LEWISTON — A Peek-A-Boo puppet show will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at The Toy Library, 134 College St. The show is an activity time for preschool children.
The puppets, Jack and Lucy, will share a story about apple picking and Halloween. There will also be an action time, snack time and a story book will be read. Cost is $2 each child. For more information, call 782-1112.
Bottle drive
AUBURN — A bottle drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Florian’s, 301 Main St. Bring bottles to the ELHS Class of 2012.
The bottle drive will help the junior class and monies will be used for prom, project graduation, decorating and other events. Class members will also pick up bottles. Call Mallory Morneau at 577-7327.
La Leche
AUBURN — Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are invited to the La Leche League meeting to be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are welcome.
The discussion, “Great Beginnings: Establishing and Maintaining Breastfeeding,” will focus on preparing to nurse baby at birth, and adjusting to babies’ changing needs as a family. For breastfeeding help or directions, call the leader at 782-6645.
