JAY — A mother and son face felony charges of trafficking in illegal drugs after police conducted an undercover operation Thursday.

Dennis Deabler, 32, was arrested in Jay after he presented an undercover officer with 50 methadone tablets Thursday afternoon, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency Supervisor Gerry Baril said Friday.

After the arrest, MDEA agents and Jay police searched Deabler’s home on Keep Road in Jay and found additional narcotics, 20 to 50, 10-milligram tablets of methadone and about 20 100-milligram tablets of Demerol, he said.

Deabler’s mother, Elaine Robichaud, 59, of Dixfield was at the home and was the only one with a prescription for the drugs, he said.  Police believe she was furnishing her prescription narcotics for her son to sell on the street, he said.

Another man, Earle Haines, 35, of Dixfield was at the home and during the search police found he was in possession of methadone tablets that were not prescribed to him, Baril said. He was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of illegal possession of the drug.

All three were taken to Franklin County Detention Center and later made bail. Deabler bailed on $3,000 unsecured and has a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 17. Robichaud was released on $3,000 unsecured and also has a Dec. 17 court date, and  Haines bailed on $3,000 unsecured and has a Dec. 16 court date.
