LEWISTON — Roland M. Laliberte, 91, of Stevens Street died Thursday, Oct. 7, at d’Youville Pavilion after a brief illness.
He was born in Lewiston, Dec. 6, 1918, the son of the late Prudent and Wilhemina (Belanger) Laliberte. He was educated in local schools and then went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married the love of his life, the former Jeannette M. Doyon, Aug. 21, 1943, at Holy Cross Church, she predeceased him in 2008. Roland and his brother, Raymond, owned and operated Laliberte Bros. Inc., a construction business they both took great pride in. He was a longtime and active member of Holy Cross Church, the Holy Cross Prayer Group, the Holy Cross Choir, and the American Legion Post 22.
He enjoyed boating and snowmobiling and loved spending time at his camps on Sabattus and Cochnewagon lakes.
He leaves two sons, Paul Laliberte and his wife, Anne, of Cape Elizabeth and Robert Laliberte and his wife, Sharon, of Princeton Junction, N.J.; three grandchildren, Peter Laliberte and his wife, Ena, of Angola, Africa, Beth Reynolds and her husband, Brian, of Ashland, Mass., and Chad Laliberte of Beverly, Mass., and his fiancee, Allison Walker, of Nashua, N.H.; and six great-grandchildren, Colette, Cleo, Madeleine, Nicolas, Elise and Kate.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond, Adelard and Oscar.
