FARMINGTON — Joanne B. Brooks, 66, of Farmington, died on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Edgewood Manor, after a short battle with brain cancer.
She was born Oct. 21, 1943, in Farmington, the daughter of Wesley L. and Madeline (Hutchinson) Bacon. She was a graduate of Farmington High School, Class of 1962.
On Oct. 24, 1964, she married James E. Brooks. They had two sons and continued to make Farmington their home. Joanne was a homemaker who enjoyed crafting, antiques and making her house a home. She took pleasure in keeping busy on projects around the house or at camp in Mount Vernon, but she was happiest simply spending time with friends and family. Joanne’s smile could light up a room. Known for her exuberant laughter, she was always the life of every party. A devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother, nothing pleased her more than spending time with her sons and her grandchildren (her “angels”), who will miss her warm smile and her hugs and kisses more than words can express.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Brooks, of Farmington; son, Christopher J. Brooks of Saco; son, Mark E. Brooks of Lewiston; brother, Vinton W. Bacon of Los Angeles, Calif.; grandchildren, Miles C. Brooks and Chandler J. Brooks of Farmington and Noah E. Brooks of Auburn; brother-in-law, Terrence M. Brooks and wife, Janet L. Brooks of Barnstable, Mass.; and special Aunt, Avis Hart of Wilton; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and countless wonderful friends.
