RUMFORD — Local police and members of the Maine State Police Tactical Team will conduct a training exercise Wednesday on Waldo Street in the area of Lincoln Avenue, Chief Stacy Carter announced.

Capt. Daniel Garbarini said Rumford police will be handing out notices in that  neighborhood.

Carter told Rumford selectmen at Thursday night’s board meeting that they don’t want residents to be alarmed seeing multiple police cruisers in the area.

Detective Sgt. James Bernard said the exercise is similar to one conducted last year in the area with the South Portland Police Tactical Team.
