Association meeting

OTISFIELD — The annual meeting of the Elmwood Cemetery Association will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the East Otisfield Baptist Church.

Bridge club

OXFORD — The Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Oct. 8 at the Recreation Building on King Street. A five-and-a-half table Howell movement was played.

Finishing first in flight A were Dave Kallander and Les Buzzell; second, Penny and Bob Thomas, also first in flight B; third, Nancy Farmer and Marta Clements.

Second in flight B were Pete Cummings and Jim Dickens; third, Kathy Feld and Hazel Glazier, also first in flight C. Second in flight C were Denny Raymond and Hank Sakrison; third, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr.

Girl Scouts

BROWNFIELD —  Girl Scouts of Maine will host a parent information and registration meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Brownfield Community Church.

Buffet

WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will sponsor a public buffet supper, featuring Finnish, American and other ethnic foods, at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Finnish American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St.

The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children. A mini bake sale will run in conjunction with the supper with Finnish nisu, rice pie and more available.

Library speaker

BRYANT POND — Vern Maxfield, town manager of Woodstock, will be the guest speaker at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at the Whitman Memorial Library. Maxfield will talk about the duties of a town manager and current events relating to the town.

The program is open to the public at no charge and light refreshments will be served.
