BETHEL — Dan Vaughan scored two goals, including the go-ahead goal midway through the seciond half to lead Telstar to a 4-3 victory over Jay in an MVC boys’ soccer game Monday.
With the game knotted at 2-2, Vaughan scored his second goal of the day with 17:20 left to play. Nick Conrad added a critical insurance goal 10 minutes later.
Despite trailing by two, Jay kept fighting and scored with seven seconds remaining when Eli Capen found the back of the net.
Nick Mills added a goal and an assist for Telstar (6-3-1), while Tyler Brown chipped in with two assists. Elek Pew also had an assist.
Lucas Preble and John Blais had goals for Jay.

Winthrop 4, Jay 0
JAY — Winthrop scored three goals in the first half and goalie Alyssa Arsenault stopped all eight shots she faced to lead the Ramblers to a 4-0 victory over Jay.
Sasha Flaherty scored the first goal on a penalty corner. Alsso scoring for the Ramblers (11-3) were Lauren Karses, Nikki Scott and Erica Ouellette.
Ashlee Quirrion made six saves for Jay (5-8-1).
Winthrop will face Telstar in the MVC championship game Wednesday at Lisbon.
