I am writing this letter because I want everyone in the Twin Cities who like hockey, or who are even remotely interested in the sport, to take some time and go to a Maineiacs game at the Colisee on Birch Street in Lewiston.
Family activities are so limited in this area and I cannot stress enough what a great atmosphere this venue provides. I have been attending games since the first season and I don’t think a lot of the local people realize how lucky we are in Lewiston to have the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In Canada, these kids are like superstars and we have an excellent group of boys here this year.
Not only did they help out when a local cemetery was vandalized, but they are constantly, without recognition, helping out in the community. For example, on the first day of school, they were busy greeting and welcoming children as they got off the bus. They also just donated 1,000 game tickets to the YWCA that it can use for fundraising any way it sees fit, and got no press about that, either.
These are a great bunch of kids who are working their butts off to get a shot in the NHL.
This is good, fun entertainment and folks should try to get to a game and show support.
