Guest preacher
EAST SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner has announced that the Rev. Susan M. Craig, assistant conference minister of the Maine UCC, will be the guest preacher on Sunday, Oct. 17. Craig is assisting the congregation in the search for an interim minister and the settled pastor.
The service will start at 9 a.m. and end with a coffee hour social time and a sermon discussion for those who wish to participate. Sunday School for ages 3 through sixth grade will start at 9 a.m. with the adults and will move to the vestry for the remaining 40 minutes.
Girl Scouts
OXFORD — Girl Scouts of Maine will host parent information and registration meetings at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at the Oxford Recreation Center on King Street and at Paris Elementary School in South Paris.

Society program
PARIS — Percy Turner will present a history of the Maine State Police to members and interested persons of the Paris Cape Historical Society at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at the museum, 77 High St. South Paris.
He will appear in a 1930s uniform and bring his old police car for people to see. The meeting will be followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments. The museum is handicapped accessible and the public is welcome to attend.
Society meeting
WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, at the Finnish-American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St.
Following a business meeting, Hanna Bernim will speak about the Suomi Koulu (Finnish School) of New England. A coffee social will follow. The public is welcome to attend.
Harvest dance
OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Volunteer Firefighters’ Association will host its seventh annual Harvest Dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Otisfield Community Hall, Route 121.
Music will be provided by “The Road Kingz.” Cost is $10 each person and tickets will be available at the door.
