After reading Margaret Craven’s praise for Mike Michaud (Oct. 12), I have some unsettling questions for her and for the city councilors of Lewiston.

If Michaud has brought millions of dollars of federal money to the Lewiston-Auburn area, why have my property taxes for my home and business not decreased? Why do I continue to have to pay thousands of dollars every year for a rain tax?

Perhaps Michaud’s time would have been better spent in trying to reduce government spending and unnecessary regulations that make Maine one of the most difficult states in the nation to run a successful small business.

It’s time for real hope and change in the form of smaller government and less government spending at all levels.

I will vote for true pro-business candidates this election: Jason Levesque and Paul LePage.
