Can someone please explain to me how the credit bureaus have become the guiding light to all?

It concerns me that I am entitled to one free credit report a year, yet many others view it over and over again without my approval. When did this become OK?

For example, I had a car accident and am in a dispute with a certain insurance company. Without my consent, they have viewed my credit history repeatedly. Why?

And a Ford car dealership has viewed my credit history and I have never been to the dealership or applied for anything with them. I have received money-saving coupons from them, but do not even know where they are located.

This is my information and I should have the right to decide who should be able to view it. And God forbid if I want to look at it twice in a year.
