PORTLAND — Pine Tree Council, Boy Scouts of America President Peter Ventre and the Distinguished Citizen Award Committee have announced the recipient of the 33rd annual Distinguished Citizen Award, Robert Harmon, president and CEO of Norway Savings Bank.

The Distinguished Citizen Award honors Harmon as an outstanding individual for his support to the youth of Maine and the community. Harmon has worked in financial services for more than 30 years and joined Norway Savings Bank in 2000. He serves on the boards of Bridgton Academy, Norway Savings Bank and Western Maine Health.

“Bob was selected to be recognized as our 2010 Distinguished Citizen because he exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law in his everyday life,” said Pine Tree Council Executive Anthony Rogers.

Harmon will receive his award at the annual award dinner, which is held to promote the community partnership that exists between scouting and leading area businesses. The dinner serves to showcase the contributions of the honoree to the local community as well as to promote positive public awareness of the scouting program, said Rogers.

The dinner will be held Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Holiday Inn By The Bay.
