RUMFORD — A Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond J. Doherty Sr. was celebrated on Saturday morning at the Parish of the Holy Savior. The Rev. Philip Tracy was the celebrant. George Gionet was the altar server and Mark Belanger was the organist. Music selections were, “Because the Lord is My Shepherd,” “Be Not Afraid,” “On Eagles Wings” and “Let There Be Peace On Earth.” Readings were presented by his wife, Barbara Doherty and son, Raymond J. Doherty Jr. The eulogy was given by his son, Raymond J. Doherty Jr. Gift bearers were his son, Raymond J. Doherty and daughter-in-law, Lisa Doherty. Bearers were Raymond J. Doherty Jr., Russell A. Doherty, James K. Doherty and Richard B. Doherty. Interment will be at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta. A reception followed at the American Legion. Military Honors were rendered by the Maine Military Funeral Honors Program and the American Legion Post No. 24. Services were under the care of SG Thibault Funeral Home, Rumford.
