LEWISTON — The YWCA has a full schedule of swim lessons which start the week of Nov. 1. Registration is available now. It is also possible to get on the waiting list for the next series of classes.
Water Babies, Puddle Jumpers and Parent and Tot classes are available for children ages 6 months through 35 months. These are water adjustment classes. Parents accompany their child in the water. YWCA staff will help parents select the appropriate class and there are many time slots during the week.
Water Explorers is for children 2 to 6 years who are afraid of being in the water and helps them conquer the fear. Parents accompany their child in the water.
Aquatots, Guppies, Jellyfish, Polliwog and Tadpole classes are all designed to help children from ages 3 to 15 learn and develop the skills to become proficient swimmers. Classes are paced for the age and ability level of each child and YWCA staff will help parents decide on the most appropriate level for their child.
American Red Cross Water Safety classes for stroke development, stroke refinement and fitness are also offered to youth.
