LIVERMORE FALLS — The Jay Livermore Falls Seniors met on Oct. 11 at Murray Hall with 25 members present with Shirley Couture presiding.

The secretary and treasurer’s report were read and accepted. Gene Pomerleau was welcomed back. On the sick list was Alice Demoras and Dora Slovak.

Couture read a brief background about how the celebration of Columbus Day came to be.

An announcement was made of a flu clinic to be held from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at the Western Maine Family Health Center, 80 Main St. The cost is $10 each person. For more information, call 897-4345.

Members have been generous in regards to the coffee fund to be given to the veterans at the Togus Veterans Hospital on Veterans Day.

A food only Chinese auction will be held during the meeting on Monday, Oct. 18. Couture also announced that cider and donuts will be served at the Halloween meeting.

For the Thanksgiving meal, finger rolls will be supplied by the group and members will bring in salads and other fixings. More details will be reported in early November. Ideas are also needed for the Christmas party because Silver and Gold are not available for the entertainment.

Lorette Chabot and Pat Couture volunteered to bring refreshments for the next meeting.

The 50/50 was won by Elvina Miller. Door prizes donated by Pat Couture and Marie Gagnon were won by Marguerite Slovak and Blanche Bilodeau.

After the meeting, refreshments brought by Shirley Couture and Fernande Doiron were served, followed by beano and card games.
