Can we seriously afford to gamble on casinos for economic growth and prosperity? Is it worth the consequences that will follow, while families and community will be impacted by the rhetoric, along with uncertain and broken assurances?

As a moral conservative, I am only one voice, but should I choose to remain silent and go along with the flow, I would not be able to look at myself in the mirror. I would be part of the problem that already exists concerning instant gratification and greed.

My advice to those who have not yet decided on how to vote on Question 1 would be to not waste their votes on the entrapment of gambling that holds people hostage to greed and getting-rich-quick schemes.

I advise people to stay strong and say no to casino gambling, before the unthinkable happens and they are powerless, losing everything that is near and dear to their hearts.

In life, there are good addictions, but casino gambling here in Lewiston is not one of them.
