FARMINGTON —  Healthy Community Coalition staff will host a walk on Sunday, Oct. 17, to explore the history of downtown Farmington as part of “Mapping Our Footsteps,” a grant initiative from the Environmental Funders Network. Interested walkers should meet at 1 p.m. at the Titcomb House on Academy Street.

The walk will begin with a historic downtown Farmington route, followed by a trip to Bonney and Flint Woods. During the walk, participants will learn about the many historic houses and cultural landmarks that have helped shape downtown Farmington, and discover the history of Bonney and Flint Woods. The Titcomb House will be open from 1 to 3 p.m., with light refreshments available.

“This is an excellent opportunity for family and friends to learn more about historic downtown Farmington while getting outside and enjoying the beautiful Maine fall foliage,” said Program Coordinator Lorri Brown.

The Mapping Our Footsteps program is dedicated to exploring and promoting the many free physical activity resources available in Greater Franklin County. Due to volunteer efforts over the past year, 30 local walking and hiking trails have been mapped with descriptions and photos posted at www.mainetrailfinder.com.

For more information about Mapping Our Footsteps or to volunteer for mapping trails, contact Brown at 779-2929 or [email protected].
