LEWISTON – Both the Sr. and Jr. Giants advanced to their respective title games in FLY football. Championship games will be played Saturday.
The Sr. Giants earned a trip to the final for the second straight year and a chance to defend their title with a playoff win over the Easy Rent All Sr. Steelers.
Offensive touchdowns came on a 32-yard run by Quintarian Brown, a 14-yard run by Ryan Bell and a 2-yard plunge by Kody Voisine. Ryan Bell also intercepted a pass on defense and ran it back 85 yards for a score.
Josh Knight also contributed with 56 yards passing and 24 yards rushing. Zach Abisalih had multiple tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Chris Dillingham, Nate Osgood, Mason Morin and Noah Jalbert helped to shut down the middle.
Sabattus Disc Golf Jr. Steelers defeated Gee & Bee Jr Redskins to earn a spot in the championship game. The Steelers scored on touchdowns by Jacob Ajayi and Garrett Poussard. The defense was led by Chase Poirier and fumble recoveries by Latrell Thomas, Terrell Thomas and Poussard.
Jayden Wilson, Shawn Jackson, John Mathon Jr. and Damon Gagne powered the Skins’ offense. Defensive standouts with multiple tackles were Tanner Cortes, Shane Currier, Donte Lowndes, Grant Hartley and Dillion-Uriah Jones.
Rooper’s Sr. Lions remained perfect on the season with a victory over the Sr. Redskins. The victory puts the Lions in the title game against the Sr. Giants.
Isaiah Harris, Julian Raines, Dion Jackson, Stefan Porter, Josh Kobel, Isaac Cote, Michael St. Pierre and Jared Rubin led the potent Lions offense. All contributed to the scoring led behind the strong line of Andrew Mokumobi, Nate Mercier, Rubin, Kobel and Jackson. Defensive standouts were Desmond Jackson, Harris, Elijah Haris, Dominic Adams, Maddie Roy and Legend Edwards.
Grimmel’s Gas Up Jr. Giants also earned a chance to defend their title with a win over American Engraving Jr. Lions.
Brock Belanger, Lucas Nichols and Caden Begos had touchdown runs and combined for 210 yards on the ground. Tanner Sturgis, Thomas Brochu, Gordon Beckwith, Connor Kaplinger, Keegan Voss, Belanger and Nichols made multiple tacjkles to fuel the defense. Kaplinger and Sturgis also added fumble recoveries.
Miles Teague led the Lions with 89 rushing yards behind the blocking of Ricky Cote, Davion Jackson, Brandon Keith-Williams and Xavier Jackson. Defensive leaders were Bennie Montgomery, Jordyn Rubin and Austin Heath.
Kohl’s Vikings defeated Gridiron Eagles in the Peewee division. The Vikings were led by Tyson Green, Quentin Pelkey, Jacob Flynn, Caleb Cyr and Joshua Randall. The Eagles were led by Jaiden Caron, Matthew Wallingford, John Shea and Logan Sherman.
In the Flag Division, Graphic Explosion Red Dragons defeated Elite Auto Patriots with an offensive outburst. Joshua Murphy had two rushing touchdowns. Gabriel Bouchard, Dalton Lajoie and Jahvon Ebenne each added a rushing TD, while Cole Ulrich chipped in a reception for a touchdown. The Red Dragons defense was led by Latrelle Mongo and Tafari Lorson.
