WILTON/RANGELEY – Funeral services, honoring the life of Gerald E. “Gerry” Wiles, of Wilton and Rangeley, were held on Saturday, Oct. 9, at 1 p.m., from the Wiles Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, (Rtes. 2 and 27), Farmington, with the Rev. Gary Akeley of Randolph officiating. Special music included: Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World,” Patsy Cline’s “Crazy,” Diamond Rio’s “One More Day,” and Susan Boyle’s “Silent Night,” His sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty Kent-Conant and Thomas F. Kent, sang “Always,” by Irving Berlin. Eulogies were given by his brother, John E. Wiles; his best friend, Wayne “Bug” Eldridge and his daughter, Rhonda Ann Wiles-Rosell. At the conclusion of the service those present sang the German children’s folksong, “The Happy Wanderer.” The Rev. Deborah Gildart-Hanks recited the lyrics of Taps. Following services, all were invited to Calzolaio for a family reception. Committal services were held Sunday afternoon, Oct. 10, at Evergreen Cemetery in Rangeley, officiated by the Rev. Judd Pealer of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Rangeley. Full military honors were presented by Camp Keyes. Pallbearers were grandson, Adam Emery Wiles-Rosell, son-in-law, Kurt Rosell, daughter, Rhonda Wiles-Rosell, family friends, Paul “P.D.” Collin, Wayne “Bug” Eldridge, Kevin Vining, Troy “T-Roy” Nelson and Eric Nelson. Following services, the grandchildren released lupine villed white balloons along with a peace dove.
