LEWISTON — Residents of Androscoggin County will have a chance to meet their legislative candidates Thursday, Oct. 21, when the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College hosts a State Legislature Candidates Forum.
All state legislative candidates whose districts are completely or partly in Androscoggin County have been invited to participate. Each candidate will address what they think are the key issues that face higher education in the state and how they propose to address the issues as a legislator. After their presentations the candidates will answer questions about all topics from the audience.
The event will give candidates the opportunity to discuss campaign issues with USM LAC students as well as members of the community who are invited to attend.
A reception with refreshments will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the candidate forum beginning at 7 p.m. After the forum, there will be an opportunity for candidates to meet with voters.
The event is the 11th time USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College has hosted a state legislative forum and is being planned by professor Marvin Druker’s media and politics class, the USM LAC Student Government Association and the Office of Community Service.
USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College is at 51 Westminster St. Directions and more information are available at the website www.usm.maine/lac.
