Recently I met Garrett Mason, candidate for state Senate. I seized the opportunity to ask him some very tough questions. His answers were direct and to the point.

Later, I called several friends in the Lisbon and Sabattus areas. Most knew of him and confirmed that he was very concerned about the state and local tax situation. Many people feel that the incumbents, Libby Mitchell and John Nutting, are not, as both have a voting record of raising state taxes and passing state costs on to the municipalities. If they did not do that, the state debt would be more than a billion dollars more than it is now.

I hope voters will give Mason a chance to make a difference by helping Paul LePage. I openly support LePage and, now, Garrett Mason.

I believe Republicans will vote for LePage, but overtaxed Democrats will elect him.
