AUBURN — Daniel Zamarche, 86, of Minot Avenue, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Clover Manor.

He was born in Lewiston, April 24, 1924, the son of the late Adamo and Eleanor Boutet Zamarche. He was educated in Lewiston schools, graduating from Lewiston High School.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was married Nov. 19, 1942, to Jeannette “Jan” Michaud, who predeceased him Feb. 25, 2008. Prior to his retirement, he was employed many years for New England Telephone Co.

He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Tranquil Lodge 29 AF & AM, Kora Temple and a lifelong member of the Lewiston Lodge of Elks. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and bowling.

He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Gonyeau and husband, Chuck, of Vermont; two grandchildren, Jennifer Barth and husband, Michael, of New Hampshire, and Brian Libby and wife, Stephanie, of Vermont; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eleanor Benedix of Connecticut, Adrienne Raye and husband, Kip, of Florida, and Gerry Violette of Florida.
