DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am trying to find out if the Thrill the World Zombie Dance event is going to be happening in Lewiston this year. I tried to contact the coordinator from last year, but my e-mail came back undeliverable. The event took place Oct. 24 last year.

I live in the Bangor area and don’t receive your paper on a regular basis. Please help me in finding out more information about this event. — Laurie LaViolette, acrossthereach@aol.com

ANSWER: It appears as though the event will take place in some locales. Sun Spots found the following calendar entry at boston.com:

Thrill the World: Michael Jackson’s Zombie Dance, Saturday, Oct 23, 11 a.m. at Salem Common, Salem, Mass. Learn Michael Jackson’s Thriller and then show off your zombie moves with a performance on Salem Common at 1:30 p.m. Prizes for best costume.

However, she did not find any mention of a local event. Perhaps no one stepped up to organize it. Maybe the job could be yours?

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Carthage Veterans Memorial Committee is working on collecting names for our monument. We are gathering names of all servicemen and women who served in any of the armed services, at any time, during conflicts and/or peace, and who were a resident of Carthage at that time.

I will need the veteran’s name, branch of service, years of service, DD214 number and a contact phone number. Please send this information to me at cindyhutch@hughes.net or call 562-4291. Thank you. — Cindy Hutchinson

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I walk at the Bates track, and I would like to know how many miles from this sign. 445 meters (362 laps/miles) lane 8 means? Thank you so much. — No Name via e-mail

ANSWER: The sign might actually provide the answer you seek, but I think you may have missed a decimal point. You would need to make 3.62 laps of a 445-meter track to go a mile.

According to asknumbers.com, the exact number of meters in a mile is 1,609.344. If you divide 445 meters into 1,609.344 meters, you get 3.6157303 or, rounded up, 3.62. So, to simplify it a bit, each lap is a little more than a quarter mile.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: A couple of months ago, you listed names and address of local or surrounding (if I remember correctly) seamstresses. I meant to save this part of the paper, but failed to do so.

Would you print this information again, or is it possible for you to put the day you printed it in the paper and I would be able to buy a back copy of the Sun Journal with this information. Thank you for doing a great job in your columns. Its much appreciated. — No Name, Auburn
