AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine’s ethics commission is taking up a request to investigate a website that targets independent gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler.
Cutler’s campaign asked the Maine Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices to investigate the website, whose creator has remained anonymous. He contends the website, called The Cutler Files, contains defamatory and false statements. Cutler’s campaign is threatening legal action to determine who’s behind the website.
Also on Wednesday’s agenda was a Democratic complaint against Republican gubernatorial candidate Paul LePage over his use of a company car on the campaign trail. LePage says he’s done nothing wrong.
