BUCKFIELD — An Oxford woman was killed and her husband and three others were injured Tuesday night in a two-car crash at Bryant Road and Route 117, Deputy Mchael Halacy said early Wednesday morning.

Linda Belanger, 62, was pronounced dead at the scene, the investigator said. She was the front seat passenger in a car driven by her husband, Patrick.

A man and a woman were riding in the back seat of the car, Halacy said, and they and Patrick were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with non-life-threatening injuries.

Patrick Belanger was driving west toward Buckfield village, Halacy said, when the car was hit broadside by another driven by Annie Holden, 20, of Bridgton. Holden came into the intersection from Bryant Road, going through a stop sign because she was not familiar with the area, he said. Her car struck the passenger side of the Belanger car, he said.

Holden was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.

A dispatcher with the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office in Paris said the crash occurred about 1 mile from the Turner town line where Bryant Road and Route 124 intersect with Route 117, which is also known as Turner Street.

Mark George, a neighbor who lives across Turner Street from the crash scene, said at least three ambulances arrived at the scene, as well as two state police cruisers, two Oxford County Sheriff’s cruisers and two firetrucks.

George said he didn’t hear the crash but went outside when he noticed that a tractor-trailer was stopped in front of his house.

Halacy said the investigation into the crash is in its preliminary stages and no charges have been brought.

Holden’s 2002 Honda CRV was demolished, as was the 2004 Dodge Stratus driven by Belanger but not registered to him, Halacy said.

Assisting were members of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department, Maine State Police, Buckfield Rescue and Fire Departments, Turner Rescue and Fire Departments and United Ambulance.
