After the November 2008 election, I spoke with Sen. Deb Simpson, District 15, concerning the welfare problem in this state. Between housing, food stamps, MaineCare, etc., the cost to every taxpayer is staggering. Her reply to me was that if I knew someone on welfare, just tell him/her to get a job.

I knew, immediately, that she didn’t have a clue about how serious an issue this was, and in following her voting record these past two years, it has been obvious that she is just another tax-and-spend liberal Democrat.

Unfortunately, Maine is now No. 1 in the country in welfare programs. That is unacceptable.

On Nov. 2, I hope others will join me in voting for Republicans and true fiscal conservatives, starting with Paul LePage for governor, Lois Snowe-Mello, Senate District 15, and Mike McClellan, House District 103.
