LIVERMORE — Clara Holt Stanley, 88, a resident of Tessier Road, Livermore, passed away peacefully at her home early Wednesday, Oct. 20, with her family by her side.
She was born in Jay, Jan. 31, 1922, the daughter of Wilfred F. and Eva (Morse) Holt. Clara attended Jay schools, graduating in 1940. She was married to Clarence Robinson Jr. in 1941 and had five daughters.
In 1948, she and her daughters moved to the Holt homestead in North Jay. She married Clarence “Bill” Stanley on July 12, 1969 in North Jay. She and Bill had 31 happy years together before he passed away on May 4, 2000.
She was a devoted wife and gave her husband many years of loving care. Clara was a member of the Bartlett Memorial Methodist Church in North Jay; the Pythian Sisters 43 of North Jay; and the North Jay Fireman’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by her four daughters, Cleo Roy of Jay, Erna White and friend, Brian White, of Jay, Roberta and Fred Clough of Farmington and Donna and Ray Guest of Leeds; son-in-law, Curt and Jeanine Arey of Lewiston; stepson, Rodney and Marilyn Stanley of Salem; stepdaughters, Judy and Dick Roy, Paulette and Kermit Bryant and Linda and Brian Beaulieu, all of Jay; daughters-in-law, Doris Stanley and companion, Ray Veilleux, of Florida, and Rae and Bob Henderson of Readfield; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; special niece, Jane Holt of Stamford, Conn.; sister-in-law, Janet Robinson of Livermore; special friend, Marjorie Donald of Wilton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Bill Stanley; daughter, Carol Arey; stepsons, Gordon Stanley and Richard Marston; granddaughters, Christine Arey Booth and Ginger Bryant; great-great-granddaughter, Alexis White; son-in-law, Paul Roy; seven siblings, Donald, Stephen, Wilfred and Kenneth Holt, Doris Shiverick, Della Rice and Margaret Holt.
The family would like to thank the nurses of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice in Lewiston, and Dr. Paul Wooden in Farmington.
