ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Genevieve A. (Poirier) Fraser, 81, formerly of Lewiston, died Sept. 24, of Parkinson’s disease.

Gen was born in Mexico and from age eight to 13 was an orphan and lived at a convent in Lewiston. She married in 1951. While living in New York City, she worked at the 42nd St. Library. She later reared her family in Rochester, Hilton and Greece, N.Y.

Gen loved gardening, home making and neighbors. She was actively involved in the Christian Women’s Prayer Groups and also volunteered at Mt. Carmel Hospice, SS. Peter and Paul Soup Kitchen and the Sisters of Mercy School for Migrant Children in Freemont, Ohio.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur; her children and spouses, Peter (Constance,) Gregory (Robin,) Matthew (Jeannine,) Anne Marie Lana Luke (Cheryl,) Lawrence (Elizabeth,) Mary Katherine (Tom Huber;) many grandchildren; sisters, Adrienne, Bernadette and Marguerite of Rumford; and brother, Tom of Lewiston.

She was predeceased by her brother, Albert of Lewiston
