LEWISTON — A free energy efficiency and weatherization workshop, sponsored by Maine Interfaith Power and Light, will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, at Trinity Episcopal Church. The workshop is aimed at homeowners and faith groups interested in saving money on energy bills and reducing their fossil fuel use. Information on current rebates and financial incentives will be included.

The workshop will include a presentation on energy use in buildings and major areas for energy efficiency improvements. Maine Interfaith Power and Light developed its presentation with an Efficiency Maine engineer who has extensive experience doing energy audits and renovations of church buildings and similar structures.

Information on current federal and state incentives to help homeowners pay for energy improvements, especially on Efficiency Maine’s Home Energy Savings Program, will be presented. Homeowners who start their projects before Dec. 31 may be eligible for up to $4,500 back. Opportunities for faith groups, including energy audits and rebates, will also be discussed.

The workshop is free and open to anyone who would like to attend, regardless of faith group affiliation. Light refreshments will be served. To preregister, visit www.meipl.org or call 721-0444.
