Deb Simpson has sponsored and voted for legislation that would help workers fight for fair and equal pay, while also sponsoring legislation that will help Maine businesses grow. She also worked with the Legislature to cut almost a billion dollars in state spending while supporting the measure that would have lowered income taxes for 98 percent of Maine residents.

Her opponent, before losing a bid for re-election, repeatedly voted against increases to the minimum wage and legislation that increased the availability of health care to working families. Her opponent also supported measures that would allow insurance companies to deny coverage to people who need it most.

While Simpson has worked to ensure responsible bidding for state contracts, Lois Snowe-Mello opposed legislation that guaranteed the state would not purchase goods from sweatshops.

Let’s remember why we voted for a new senator in 2008 and vote for Deborah Simpson again.
