MADISON — Lauren Beaudoin scored the game-clinching goal 22:19 into the second half as Monmouth secured a 2-1 victory over Madison in the preliminary round of the Western Class C girls’ soccer tournament Friday afternoon.

Kylie Kemp converted a relay from Danielle Bumann to post the first goal of the game to put the No. 9 Mustangs (8-5-2) up 1-0. But, Natalie Michaud evened up the contest three minutes later on an unassisted tally for the Bulldogs.

Goalie Kelsie Hilton made 15 saves for Monmouth, including a crucial punch that went over the net with only two minutes remaining in regulation. Goalie Savanna Kandiko had eight saves for eighth-ranked Madison in the losing effort.
