My gripe is the way that school districts and municipalities perform their hiring processes. As someone who was recently job hunting, I have personal experience with their procedures. These school systems post their non-teaching jobs as if they were really seeking the most qualified candidates. They require the applicants to undertake a complicated and time consuming process and make it appear that folks from the private sector will truly be considered. But the end result that I have experienced is that the person hired is always some sort of acquaintance of a member of the school system administration.
While familiarity and cronyism can be understood in private business, it has no place in a taxpayer supported position. If these institutions do not plan on conducting a legitimate hiring process, stop posting the jobs and wasting the taxpayers’ time.

My gripe is when a business comes to our home to perform a job and they inflate their price due to the fact they think we have money (we live in a nice home/neighborhood). On more than one occasion, we’ve been charged more than what they normally charge for the exact same job. We work hard for our money as you do — please be fair and honest! Not everyone has done this, and to them and all the other honest businesses — thank you!
