I was very disappointed to read in the Oct. 16 Sun Journal that Paul LePage, if elected, would wish to reinstate the death penalty. I understand there has been no death penalty in Maine since the 1800s, so that no person wrongly convicted has been wrongly executed.

In Britain, the death penalty was abolished in the mid-1960s, due to people having been wrongly executed.

May there never be an execution in the future in Maine.
