AUBURN — The Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, 426 Washington St. Bingo will be played after a Halloween luncheon prepared by Lucien Marcoux and assisted in serving by his volunteer crew. Members are reminded to bring their cups.
Members may may dress in Halloween costumes, with a prize awarded to the one wearing the most original costume.
Tickets will be sold for the Thanksgiving dinner, for $5, to be held at the Green Ladle, and for the Christmas dinner, for $5, to be held Dec. 6 at the Ramada Inn. One may pay for both tickets on one check or buy each separately. As there are no meetings during November and December, this is the only meeting at which the tickets will be sold. Lists of members at dinner tables should be prepared and given to Lucy Cowles for the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Dues of $5, for 2011, may also be paid to Cowles.
There were 49 members present for the Oct. 13 meeting with Hon. Past President Virginia Houston presiding. Carmela Hewett was welcomed as a new member. Trip chairperson Evelyn Sawin requested suggestions be made and given to her for the year 2011.
Kay Koss, nominating committee, announced the following officers for the upcoming year: Board of Directors, Merry Strout, Irving Grant, George Remillard, Helen McGuire, Caroline Chapman, Virginia Houston, Lucien Marcoux, Alwin Strout and Nancy Roy. Current officers are: president, Helen McGuire; vice president, Dorothy Weeks; treasurer, Irving Grant; assistant treasurer, George Remillard, correspondent secretary, Aileen Harnden; chaplain, Patricia Donohue; membership chairperson, Lucy Cowles; and recording secretary, Caroline Chapman.
Birthdays for October were acknowledged. Attendance prize winners were Eleanor Jones and George Herrick Jr.; pot of gold, Irene Fraser, Irving Grant and Shirley Huntley; mystery prizes, Eleanor Jones, Bob Berry and Phillip Cyr.
Following lunch a successful food auction was held with Pat Donohue as auctioneer, assisted by Lucien Marcoux, Nancy Roy and Leigh Whittle as runners.
