LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer two free workshops as part of the ongoing Lunch and Learn Series for cancer caregivers.
The workshop on Monday, Nov. 1, will be “How to Support Children and Teens When a Loved One is Seriously Ill.” Presenter Tookie Bright, LMSW-CC will explore ways in which adults can best support younger people in both the present and for a lifetime through open, honest and supportive communication.
On Monday, Dec. 6, the workshop will be “Is Anybody Listening? Is Anybody There?” Vicky Carpenter, RN, MDiv and volunteer chaplain in CMMC Pastoral Care, will discuss ways to strengthen a spiritual connection.
Each workshop will run from noon to 1:30 p.m. at CMMC. Lunch will be provided and space is limited to eight participants. Preregistration is available by calling the Dempsey Center at 795-8250, toll-free at 877-336-7287 or online at www.dempseycenter.org.
