RUMFORD — Western Maine Community Action Health Services has announced that its Rumford site will now be open Fridays in addition to its regular Wednesday hours.
“If you are interested in starting on a birth control method, picking up birth control supplies, pregnancy testing, flu shots and routine sexually transmitted infection testing, you can come in on Wednesday or Friday,” said Amanda Hilton, a reproductive health specialist at the WMCA Health Services sites in Rumford and Farmington. Same day appoints are available.
Sara Hayes, a family nurse practitioner who has been providing health care in the agency for more than 25 years, is at the site on Wednesday to offer additional services such as annual exams, breast exams or referrals for a mammogram, to check for and treat infections and to answer reproductive health questions.
Hilton said all services are strictly confidential, whether female or male, teen or adult.
Fees are based on a sliding fee scale according to household income. The agency is a MaineCare provider and participates with many private insurance companies. It is also a Maine breast and cervical health provider for women 40 and over who have no insurance or insurance with a very high deductible and offer assistance in applying for the program.
