LEWISTON – The Candy Cane Classic 5K run and walk will be held Sunday, Nov. 14. It is hosted by Mend-A-Body Solutions and will benefit YWCA of Central Maine.
Registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Lewiston High School. The race will start at 9:30 a.m. Preregistration fee is $15, or $20 the day of event.
Whether you choose to walk or run it, the inuagural Candy Cane Classic will offer something for everyone. This festive event is sure to get you in the holiday spirit. Though it is not required, participants are encouraged to dress for the season as Santa, an elf or reindeer or any other creative holiday character.
The 3.1 mile route will start at Lewiston High School and will include East Ave., Webster, Walnut, Jefferson, Marcotte Park, Franklin Path, Bartlett, Birch, Marcotte Park, Marcotte Ave., Webster, and East Ave. back to the finish line at Lewiston High School, where prizes will be awarded.
For more than 130 years, the YWCA has offered services to improve the lives of women, seniors, children, teens and families of all faiths and backgrounds. YWCA offers preschool, pre-K and after-school care to families. It also offers swimming lessons and open swimming and provides a facility to the local high schools for swim team competitions and numerous other aquatic events. The YWCA is the only public pool in the area that offers handicap accessibility.
