JAY — Selectmen voted to adopt a form for social service agencies and other groups requesting funding from the town.
Town Manager Ruth Cushman took a class on the subject, Chairman Steve McCourt said last week.
“There is a standard form on this and if they don’t fill it out, they won’t get funded,” McCourt said.
Some agencies ask for money and don’t disclose how much money they have and the number of people they serve in Jay, he said.
This cuts down on a lot of paperwork, Selectman Amy Gould said.
The form will also allow selectmen and the Budget Committee to compare “apples to apples,” she said.
Selectman Warren Bryant said there is an effort by the Franklin County Budget Committee to have social agencies that are now funded by the county to have them go to each town with their requests.
Town office staff plan to contact the agencies that request funds from Jay. Agencies and others that do request funding could also contact the town office.
The deadline for submitting the form is Jan. 1, 2011.
