LIVERMORE — The Planning Board will start work on a few ordinances, including one governing adult entertainment, in advance of the 2011 town meeting, town administrative assistant Kurt Schaub said.

Schaub, also a Planning Board member, told selectpersons last week that the board agreed to look into an amendment to the town’s Building Ordinance to accommodate multifamily housing, specifically for senior citizens, he said.

The ordinance does outline lot sizes for single-family residences and two-family residences but not senior-housing complexes.

“Our ordinance presently has no provision for that type of development, and the multifamily development that has occurred has been accomplished through a process that allows for conversion of similar use, but not direct development,” Schaub said. “The goal is to define a clear process for this kind of development, consistent with the town’s Comprehensive Plan.”

The Planning Board also will work on an ordinance to deal with adult-oriented entertainment on premises that aren’t licensed to serve alcohol. Townspeople passed an ordinance in June that governs special amusements on the premises of places that sell alcohol. Adult entertainment guidelines are included in that ordinance for those establishments.

They will also revisit the draft Mass Gathering Ordinance that voters overwhelmingly rejected at town meeting. Residents said at the time that that one was too restrictive.

The board will see if a compromise can be reached on the proposal so that it will still offer meaningful protections for the town and nearby residents, Schaub said.

Selectpersons were also informed by David Lovewell, an owner of Barnyard All Terrain, that there is a possibility there will be a big mudding event next summer.

Since the town doesn’t have an ordinance governing large events, Schaub said, Lovewell was asked to confer with Fire Chief Don Castonguay to review public safety aspects of hid plan.
