LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine and Barclay’s Skindiver’s Paradise will offer a “Snorkel Adventure” class for teens from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at the YWCA, 130 East Ave.

Teens will learn all the basic techniques of snorkeling. Special attention to proper equipment and care is an integral part of the course. Students will be taught fundamentals and drilled on techniques including: ear clearing, deep water entries, deep dives, search and recovery, dive safety and how to dive environmentally friendly. 

Participants will need a bathing suit and a towel. The class is recommended for strong swimmers.

The class is open to preteen to teens ages 12 to 16. The class is $50 if the teen already has the equipment and $65 if the teen does not have the equipment. Upon completion of the class teens not already possessing the equipment will receive a professional snorkel and mask that is properly fitted for them.
